The Atkin White Rice pays tribute to the legendary Clarence White and Tony Rice in name and design, paying tribute to the instantly recognizable soundhole modification that has inspired guitar players and builders alike, due to its obvious effect on the tone of a dreadnought.
Aside from the cleaner bass and bass-treble balance brought by the soundhole dimensions, Atkin further brings this guitar to the domain of the instrument that inspired it with their aging process. Not to be dismissed as a cosmetic feature, the finish checking allows the whole guitar to resonate freely, without the constraint of a rigid structure dampening the instrument's natural tones.
The use of a thermo-cured Sitka Spruce top matched with Indian Rosewood back and sides completes the package for a dreadnought that feels and sounds much older than it is.
